Wisdom
How much better to get wisdom than gold (с)
Wisdom is a fundamental and inestimable quality of a rational person. It helps you to make meaningful decisions, find harmony with the world and yourself, understand shades of grey and live a full life. So everything seems to be simple, but at the same time, how to acquire this very wisdom?
First of all, wisdom is an understanding of yourself, your thoughts, aspirations and feelings. It is impossible to talk about harmony with the world when there is no awareness of oneself in this world, no understanding of one's place in the Universe, no desire to know oneself. It is vital for a person to look for one’s business, one’s passion, one’s essence, no matter how difficult it may seem at first glance and no matter how much time it takes. And a person is able to thoroughly understand only oneself. All around, a person perceives through the prism of one’s attitudes. And this prism must be focused and clear. An inexorable desire for self-knowledge, calibrating oneself as a tool for understanding the world, is a necessary condition on the path to wisdom.
Undoubtedly, this path requires a lot of time and experience. Wisdom does not come in one moment, it grows from the decisions made, the study of the consequences of one's own and others' actions. Through experience, a person learns to do the right thing, avoid mistakes, and draw conclusions. Wisdom has no end state. It develops and improves throughout a full person's life. Even a seemingly wise person still does not stop learning, never ceases to doubt one’s beliefs, continues finding new ideas about the world. Is the old man wise being spent half a century sitting in a monastery under the clouds? Or is he just spreading common truths and abstract concepts read from a brochure about Good and Evil? Experience does not come through a closed door, not even in under heaven. Continuous growth through experience is the essential companion of wisdom. But wisdom itself lives and develops along with the world. No matter how eternal the questions of being may seem, from time to time it acquires new facets and colors. That means wisdom in its maturation requires constant participation and new experience from a person.
Separately, it is worth highlighting feelings as a unique human property. Emotional intelligence is an integral part of the acquired wisdom. Overcoming emotional obstacles promotes the development of control over one’s feelings, which allows a person to make decisions based on common sense without becoming a victim of one’s own emotions. Humans are also social beings and society is their habitat. It means that the ability to understand other people's feelings, empathize and show empathy for others is extremely important to be a conscious and reasonable unit in society. Wisdom lies and is expressed not only in matters of the universe but also in matters of human relationships. After all, it is not only about the connection of a human with the Universe but also about the connection of an individual with others. Therefore, the wise will never neglect other people's feelings and emotions.
Self-knowledge, lived experience, emotional intelligence. What unites it? Open-mindedness. In order to be able to know oneself, gain life experience, understand and share feelings, a person must be open to the world, be ready to absorb its history and motives. And as a result, an open-minded and free from prejudice person gets on the path of knowing the essence of things and acquiring golden wisdom.
